HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE
1 Insert the key into the console.
See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11.
2 Select the manual mode.
When the key is in-
serted, the manual mode will be selected. If a program has been selected, press the
Program Select button
repeatedly until the word CALORIES appears in the center display.
3 Program a calorie goal if desired.
If you wish to program
a calorie goal for your workout, press the in- crease button below the center display. A goal of 100 calories will appear in the center display. To increase or decrease the goal in in-
crements of 50 calories, press the increase or de- crease button repeatedly.
Press the Start button or the Speed increase
4 button to start the walking belt.
When the Start button
or the Speed increase button is pressed, the walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph. As
you exercise, change
the speed of the walking belt as desired by press- ing the Speed increase and decrease buttons. Each time a button is pressed, the speed setting will change by 0.1 mph; if a button is held down, the speed setting will change in increments of 0.5 mph.
To stop the walking belt, press the Stop button. The time will begin to flash in the left display. To restart the walking belt, press the Start button or the Speed increase button.
Note: The first time you use the treadmill, periodi- cally inspect the alignment of the walking belt, and center the walking belt if necessary (see page 18).
5 Change the incline of the treadmill as desired.
To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase or decrease button until the de- sired incline level is reached.
6 Follow your progress with the three displays.
The left

Note: The console can display distance and speed in either miles or kilometers, as shown by the letters MPH or Km/H in the right display. To change the unit of measurement, see THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE on page 15. For simplicity, all instructions in this section refer to miles.
The center display—
When the manual
mode or the
display will show the
approximate number of calories you have burned during your workout. (Note: If you have pro- grammed a calorie goal, the display will show the number of calories remaining to be burned.) When the 5K Run program is selected, the display will show the number of meters remaining to be run.
When you use the treadmill’s upper body arms, press the IN-
CLUDE UPPER BODY
CALORIES button so the indicator on the
right side of the button is lit. The console will then include your upper body exercise as it counts the approximate number of calories you have burned.
