8Use the button to go to the next screen.

9Use the 2 3 buttons to choose a

Crossover Frequency of 50 Hz, 80 Hz,

100 Hz, 150 Hz or 200 Hz.

Certain bass sounds will play back from the subwoofer if you selected it as YES (or PLUS) or from the front speak- ers if you selected them as LARGE.

This setting decides where the cutoff will be between those bass sounds playing back from the speaker selected as above and the bass sounds for the entire soundtrack, which play back from all speakers used.

If you selected MANUAL THX in step 2 the Crossover Frequency is set to 80Hz and this screen doesn’t appear.

10 Use the 5∞ buttons to select RETURN and press ENTER.

Next, proceed to CHANNEL DELAY below.

If you want to change a setting before proceeding start over from step 1.

memo If you have a subwoofer and like lots of bass, it may seem logical to select LARGE for your front speakers and leave the subwoofer selected. This may not, however, yield the best bass results.

Depending on the size and shape of your room you may actually experience a decrease in the amount of bass due to what is called "low frequency cancellations." If you have a subwoofer, listen to the bass response with the front speakers set to LARGE and SMALL alternatively and let your ears judge which sounds best.

If you have a subwoofer, the safest option is to route all the bass sounds to it by selecting SMALL for the front speakers.
