Looking up a word by Filter search
A definition of a word can be looked up by inputting its spelling.
<Example>
Find the information for ‘gelb’.
1.Press Dto open Duden – Die deutsche Rechtschreibung.
The input screen appears.
2.Type in the spelling of ‘gelb’.
As you type, candidates for matching narrow. If the desired word is found, then there is no need to type any more letters.
3.Use {and }to move ‘’ to point at the desired word, then press E. The detail view of the word appears.
•To browse contents on the next/previous page, press }{or ><.You may also find the Quick view function useful.
•If a word selected is a close derivative of a headword, it may not have its own definitions. In these cases, it is helpful to scroll up within the detail view to find the definitions of the headword itself.
•Use the Super Jump fnction to mark a word in a detail screen and explain/trans- late it, or to open the regulations of the German spelling, which are displayed with . For more information on the Duden rules can be found on page 31.
If there are multiple correct spellings for a word, the recommendation of the Duden marked with an asterisk *.
•Press Fto return to the previous screen.
•Press ^Lto list the headwords in Duden – Die deutsche Rechtschreibung.
•To search for a different word, simply input a new spelling for the word, or press ^Bor Dto go to the dictionary's input screen.
Note about entering characters
While entering characters, exclude characters such as spaces, hyphens, apostro- phes, slashes, commas, periods and brackets. See pages 14 and 15 for details.
