8 CORRECT POSTURE FOR MEASUREMENT

1.Sit down and place your left elbow on a table so that the upper arm cuff, when applied, will be at the same level as your heart.

Note: The level of your heart is slightly below your armpit;

2.Extend the left arm, palm up. Loosen and roll up left sleeve so that the blood pressure monitor cuff will be in direct contact with the left arm during measurement.

3.Relax your entire body, especially the area between your elbow and fingers.

4.If the cuff is not at the same level as the heart, or if you cannot keep your arm completely still throughout the measurement, use a soft object such as a folded towel to support your arm. Apply the cuff to the left arm as explained in the instructions on the following page.
