10 TAKING A MEASUREMENT

Note: Before taking a measurement, take 3 ~ 5 deep breaths and relax. In order to obtain accurate measurement results, remain seated, keep your arm and hands still, and do not talk during measurement.

1.Insert the tube plug into the air connector on the side of the main body of the device.

2.Press button “O/”; all symbols will display for 2 seconds as shown in Fig. 10-1; you will hear two short beeps; then “0” will display. The automatic pump will then begin to inflate the cuff.

Generally the pressure will reach 190 mmHg as shown in Fig. 10-2 before starting to deflate.

3.As the pump then stops inflating and begins to deflate, pressure will decrease gradually, as shown in Fig. 10-3. During deflation the user’s blood pressure and pulse will be calculated.

4.When measurement calculation is complete you will hear a long beep, the remaining air in the cuff will deflate quickly, and the blood pressure and pulse measurements will display. Date and time will display alternately as shown in Fig. 10-4; at the same time, “M1” and “M2” will flash to remind the user to record the measurement.
