to all installations of the software. As a result, the MAC address is the same on many different computers.
Without a unique MAC address, users sometimes are unable to connect to a server, or will connect to a server, and subsequently cause another device with the same Hardware ID to be disconnected from the server. If the MVC 2050 is disconnected from the server, it automatically attempts to reconnect, and the resulting conflicts will prevent a stable connection from being made.

Hardware ID | This box contains the MAC address for the Ethernet |
| hardware installed in your device. MVC 2050 uses the |

| Hardware ID. You can change this value if there is |
| more than one MAC address, or if the device is using |
| an Extranet client that hides the true MAC address. |
| For example, the Nortel Contivity Extranet Switch |
| uses a single MAC address for all clients. This can |
| cause connection problems with your communication |
