Control with HDMI (HDAVI Control)
What is HDAVI Control?
HDAVI Control is a convenient function that offers linked operation of this unit and Panasonic TV (VIERA) under HDAVI Control. You can use this function by connecting the equipment with the HDMI cable. See the operating instructions for connected equipment for operational details.
pIt is recommended that you use Panasonic’s HDMI cable. Recommended part number:
Automatic input switching
When the following operations are performed the television will automatically switch the input channel and displays the corresponding action. Audio output is also automatically switched to this unit’s speakers.
-When play starts on the unit (➡ page 16)
-When an action that uses the display screen is performed [e.g., Direct Navigator screen (➡ page 16), scheduled recording screen (➡ page 14)]

You can select whether to output audio with this unit’s speakers or the television speakers. Set this using the television settings. For more information, please see the television operating instructions.
When audio is output with this unit’s speakers:
pThe sound of the television speakers will become mute.
pYou can control this unit’s volume using the television remote control’s volume or mute button. The volume operation status is displayed on the television.
When audio is output with the television speakers:
pThe sound of this unit becomes “0”.

Turn on all HDAVI Control compatible equipment and select this unit’s input channel on the connected television so that the HDAVI Control function works properly. Also when the connection or settings are changed, repeat this procedure.
*When “HDMI Audio Output” is set to “On”
pWhen audio is output with this unit’s speakers, audio quality may be degraded a bit.
pWhen playing
pIf connecting to equipment incompatible with CPPM (Content Protection for Prerecorded Media ➡ page 49),
pEven if set to “On”, FM/AM broadcasts and audio from AUX terminals, “F MUSICP”, or “R MUSICP” is not output through the HDMI AV OUT terminals.

pThe display may be blank for several seconds if you switch the speakers while viewing.
pIf you switch to this unit’s speakers while the unit is currently off, the power to this unit will automatically turn on. See “Power on link” below.
pIf the unit is turned off, speakers automatically switch to the TV.
Power on link
The television automatically turns on and the corresponding display appears when the following operations are performed with the television in standby mode. Audio output is also automatically switched to this unit’s speakers.
-When play starts on the unit (➡ page 16)
-When an action that uses the display screen is performed [e.g., Direct Navigator screen (➡ page 16), scheduled recording screen (➡ page 14)]
Power off link
When the television is turned off, this unit is also automatically turned off.
The unit automatically turns off even if the FUNCTIONS screen, the status message or the

pEven if the television is turned off, the unit will not turn off at the same time in the following conditions:
-When you pressed [q REC] and the unit is recording
-When copying
-When finalizing
-When select “FM”, “AM”, “F MUSICP.” or “R MUSICP.” as the source.
Inserting/Removing SD card / Disc and card handling
For your reference
pWhen [ PLAY] is pressed on this unit for “Automatic input switching” or “Power on link”, the playback image is not immediately displayed on the screen and it may not be possible to watch the contents from where playback starts.
In this case, press [] or [] to go back to where playback started.
