Lubrication

Lubricate the upper and lower arm bushings with light machine oil once a month or after 50 hours of use.

To lubricate the bushings:

1.Disconnect the machine from the power source.

2.Remove the upper arm guard.

3.Lay the machine on its side.

4.Apply a generous amount of machine oil to the end of the bolts that hold the bushings in place as shown in Figure 15.

5.Leave the scroll saw on its side and allow the machine oil to soak in overnight.

Replacing Brushes

Replacing the motor brushes is a simple job that may be necessary after extended use.

To replace the motor brushes:

1.Disconnect the machine from the power source.

2.Remove the motor brush caps with a flat- head screwdriver. One of the caps is shown in Figure 16. The other is on the opposite side of the motor.

3.Remove the brushes and check for black carbon build-up or damage. If necessary, replace the brushes.
