13.Examine both bearings after they have been removed from the old spindle.

—If the bearings are rough or show signs or wear, replace them.

—If the bearings are still in good condition, re-install them using the two blocks of wood from Step 12 and lightly taping the bearings back onto the spindle, as shown in Figure 10.

14.Place the new spindle and bearings into the top of the inside tube and lightly tap into place using a piece of wood and a dead blow ham- mer.

Be careful not to damage the bearings dur- ing spindle installation by using excessive force on misaligned bearings. The spin- dle should be positioned where the retain- ing ring groove is visible, as shown in

Figure 11.

15.Re-install the key, spindle pulley, cap screw, washer, and V-belt. Check that the belt han- dle is secure and that the V-belt is correctly tensioned.

16.Re-install the internal retaining ring, making sure that it is properly seated in the groove (Figure 11).

17.Thread the cover back on top of the inside tube and tighten.

18.Re-install the inner table insert and spindle guard.

19.Repeat Steps 1–18for the two remaining spindles.
