Al igual que con cualquier teclado normal de PC, los caracteres del Chatpad son minúsculas por defecto y la tecla SHIFT permite el acceso a las letras mayúsculas.

Además de las teclas estándar, como las de los números, espacio y retroceso, el Chatpad proporciona dos teclas “modificadoras” distintas a SHIFT: ÁMBAR y VERDE. Estas teclas

pasan de los valores normales (caracteres blancos) a los especiales (los de color ámbar o verde impresos en las mismas teclas).

El Chatpad también cuenta con el botón Windows Live Messenger. Oprímelo para tener acceso a los mensajes instantáneos. Asimismo, el botón de Windows Live Messenger se enciende cada vez que recibes un mensaje instantáneo.

Cuando oprimes la tecla SHIFT (MAYÚS), ÁMBAR o VERDE una sola vez, la subsiguiente tecla oprimida producirá un carácter en el modo seleccionado (mayúsculas o especiales). La segunda tecla oprimida, así como las subsiguientes, estarán en el modo normal (minúsculas).
