Setting the auto-on and auto-off feature

Follow these instructions to use the printer auto-on and auto-off feature.

Auto-on

Auto-on is a default feature of the printer. The printer automatically turns on when you print a file or raise the printer cover.

Auto-off

The auto-off feature places the printer in a low-power, energy-efficient mode after it has been idle for 30 minutes.

Follow these steps to activate the auto-off feature:

1Open the HP Inkjet Toolbox.

2Select the Configuration panel.

3Follow the onscreen instructions.

Aligning print cartridges

The printer automatically aligns the print cartridges after a new print cartridge is installed. You can also align the print cartridges at other times to ensure optimal print quality.

To align the print cartridges, follow these steps:

1Load Letter or A4 plain, white paper in the In tray.

2Open the HP Inkjet Toolbox.

3Select the Calibrate panel.

4Click the Align button, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

Calibrating color

Perform a color calibration only if the colors in photographs that are printed with the photo print cartridge are consistently tinted.

Before performing a color calibration, align the print cartridges, and then reprint your photograph. If the color is still tinted, perform a color calibration.

To calibrate color, follow these steps:

1Load Letter or A4 plain, white paper in the In tray.

2Verify that a photo print cartridge is installed in the printer.

3Open the HP Inkjet Toolbox.

4Select the Calibrate Color panel.

5Follow the onscreen instructions.
