example, if you set port number 80 (HTTP) to be forwarded to IP address 192.168.1.2, then all HTTP requests from outside users will be forwarded to 192.168.1.2.

Enter a valid IP address. You may need to establish a static IP address with your Internet provider in order to properly run an Internet server. For added security, Internet users are able to communicate with the server but will not actually be connected. The packets are forwarded through the Gateway.

To add a server using forwarding:

1Enter the range of port numbers and select the protocol used by the server.

2Enter the IP address of the server that you want the Internet users to be able to access. Refer to your software documentation for more information concerning which service port settings may need to be changed, if any.

3Configure as many entries as desired up to the number of boxes provided.

4Click Apply to save changes.

To delete a server entry:

1Delete the port range number.

2Delete the IP address.

3Click Apply to save changes.

port triggering

Port triggering enables a server and LAN host to communicate using alternate ports when using certain applications or games. To enable port triggering:

1Click Port Triggering.

2Enter the port numbers used by the applications.

3Enter the triggering (outgoing) port number and the alternate (incoming) port number.

4Click Apply to save changes.

5After several seconds you will be returned to the Port Triggering window. Click Close Window to return to the Forwarding tab.

The Gateway will forward incoming packets to the LAN host.
