Here are some important notes about the image quality setting:
You can use different image quality settings for different images.
The camera retains the current image quality setting until you
change it, even if you turn the camera off.
Because image quality affects the number of images that can be stored in memory or on a memory card, the number of available images (shown on the status LCD) changes as you change the image quality.
To change the image quality
1Turn the camera on.
2Press the IMAGE QUALITY ( ) button repeatedly until the quality level you want appears on the status LCD.

Using the digital zoom
You can use the camera’s digital zoom to make a subject appear to be closer.
With digital zoom, you always use the image display to preview your image and see the effect of the zoom. The image display shows the image you will capture, as shown in the example below.
