2.Disconnect the negative (-) black wire from one battery by sliding the connection off the battery (D). Disconnect the positive (+) red wire in the same way. Lift the battery pack out.
Disposal:
1.The batteries or the entire product can be taken to a Black & Decker Company-Owned or Authorized Household Appliance Service Center for proper disposal.
2.If you wish to purchase new batteries, a Service Center technician will install them at no charge and arrange for recycling the old batteries.
Why You Should Recycle Your Rechargeable Batteries...
Unlike alkaline batteries that may last only a few weeks before needing replacement, nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries can be recharged over and over again. Though Ni-Cd batteries last far longer than alkalines - usually 5 to 7 years - they eventually will no longer hold a charge. When that happens, some consumers throw away the batteries or the product itself which is wasteful and harmful to the environment. To help avoid this, Household Products, Inc. is participating in a nationwide program of Ni-Cd battery recycling in conjunction with the RBRC™ (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation).
THE RBRC™ SEAL
The RBRC™ (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) Seal on the nickel-cadmium battery (or battery pack) indicates that the costs to recycle the battery (or battery pack) at the end of its useful life have already been paid. In some areas, it is illegal to place spent nickel-cadmium batteries in the trash or municipal solid waste stream and the RBRC program pro-
vides an environmentally-conscious alternative.
RBRC has established programs in the United States to facilitate the col- lection of spent nickel-cadmium batteries. Help protect our environment and conserve natural resources by returning the spent nickel-cadmium battery to an authorized Black & Decker service center or to your local retailer for recycling. You may also contact your local recycling center for information on dropping off spent batteries.
