RGB Video

A video signal which uses separate cable conductors to transfer the basic colours: red, green and blue. Like YUV Video, RGB delivers the highest-quality video reproduction. RGB is primarily used by European televisions. The picture output of the K1 AV can be set to RGB.

If your TV set supports RGB reproduction, you should always select this method of connection. RGB mode simply delivers the best possible picture quality.

RLINK

All the components of a system which are fitted with an R LINK control socket are able to communicate via this universal control interface.

SCART

A widespread normalised connection using a standard 21-pin connector. SCART connections are capable of transferring all picture norms plus supplementary control signals (e.g. for switching between 3:4 and 16:9 picture formats). If you wish to connect a SCART connector to a different standard connector type (e.g. Cinch or Hosiden), you can use adaptors which are widely available from electrical accessory suppliers.

Search threshold

The station search threshold is the minimal field strength value at which the automatic station search stops. It is set in such a way that very weak stations are skipped.

Source device, listening source

The source devices are those machines in a Hi-Fi system which supply a sound signal: tuner, DVD player, cassette recorder, etc.

The listening source is the machine to which you are currently listening.

The K1 AV can be switched to three external listening sources - TV, TAPE and AUX - in addition to the integral listening sources TUNER and DISC.

Stand-by mode

The K1 AV can be switched on from the ‘Ready’ state from the remote control handset.

Sub-woofer

A special loudspeaker for low sounds. An active sub- woofer (sub-woofer with integral amplifier) can be connected to the K1 AV. A sub-woofer is particularly recommended if your main loudspeakers are small in size.

Tape monitor (MONITOR)

This means listening to the signal recorded on a cassette or other tape during the actual recording process. To be able to exploit the K1 AV’s monitor function the connected recorder must feature a tape monitor function.

Update

The machine’s central processor and signal processor run programs which can be updated at any time, making it possible to expand the machine’s functions and facilities, and make it capable of meeting new requirements.

Virtual Surround

This is a sound reproduction system which provides an artificial impression of spatial surround sound with only two or three front loudspeakers. With this system the virtual room sound is generated primarily in the area exactly between the main loudspeakers. Please note that the impression of virtual space may be restricted if the listening position is unfavourable, or if the listening room is acoustically difficult.

YUV (Component Video)

A video signal in which the picture brightness (Y) and two colour difference signals (U, V) are passed along separate cable conductors. Like RGB Video, YUV supplies the best possible picture reproduction. YUV is primarily used with projectors, but also by a few flat- screen televisions and American TV sets. The picture output of the K1 AV can be set to YUV output.

If your display supports YUV reproduction, select this method of connection on the TV set.
