What is wrong and why?

We strongly recommend that you carry out the following checks on your oven before calling a Service Engineer. It may be that the problem is a simple one which you can solve yourself, without the expense of a service call.

If the Service Engineer finds that the problem is listed below, you will be charged for the call whether or not the cooker is under guarantee.

Problem

The oven or grill will not light.

Check

lCheck that the oven is switched on at the wall.

lCheck that the timer is set to 'manual' (See page 26).

lCheck that there has not been a power failure. If the electricity supply has been interrupted or you have switched the oven off at the wall the grill may have cut out before the cooling fan has cooled the oven down. Switch the oven on at the wall until the cooling fan has cooled it down.

lCheck that there is not a problem with your gas supply. You can do this by making sure that other gas appliances such as your central heating or gas fire are working.

Problem

Food is cooking too quickly or too slowly.

Check

lCheck that you are using the recommended gas marks and shelf positions. See pages 18, 19 and 20. Be prepared to adjust the gas mark up or down to achieve the results you want.

Problem

The oven is not cooking evenly.

Check

lCheck that the oven is installed properly and is level.

lCheck you are using the recommended temperatures and shelf positions.

lIf you are using a tin or tray which is larger than the one we supplied, be prepared to turn it round during cooking

lIf you are cooking a large item be prepared to turn it round during cooking.
