The histogram window, like the waveform window, contains a section of controls which can be displayed or hidden on the right hand side of the window. Please see the above section on the Waveform window for details of revealing the window controls. Again like the waveform window, the most commonly used controls are available from the Colour Mode menu.

Like with the waveform window, the top control in the right hand bar is the most important, and controls the format of the histograms The available modes are

YCbCr

Histograms are generated in YCbCr space

YCbCr (SD)

As above but after conversion to true SD levels

RGB

Histograms are generated in RGB space

Composite

Histograms are generated in Composite colour space.

In each of the four modes, check boxes appear so that a subset of the items can be displayed if required. Items may be displayed stacked vertically above each other (as shown here) or in parade form.

The X position and X magnification sliders may be used to zoom in on a portion of the waveform. It is also possible to enter numbers for position and gain into the boxes, or click on the x2, x4 etc buttons.

The vertical range sets the scale of the graph, and can be adjusted to suit your exact data, but clicking the Auto button will produce a suitable scale very easily. For most data, the best results will be obtained by clicking the ‘Log’ button, which applies a logarithmic scaling to the vertical axis (before pressing the Auto button).

From the Options menu, you can open the Look and Feel configuration dialogue, in exactly the same fashion as for the waveform window. This lets you specify the colour for each different possible Histogram element, including the Graticule and the cursor.

Vectorscope Window

The vectorscope window, like the waveforms and the histograms, has a section of controls that can be revealed and hidden. However all of these controls for the vectorscope are automatically adjusted as the region of interest is changed. Accordingly these controls will only be required very occasionally.
