There are two versions of this toolbar. The above version is present in a basic XR system, whilst the version shown below is present if the option Dual Link module is present.

Using the drop down menu is identical to selecting the video format from the Video section of the Engineering dialogue’. The video lock reference is unchanged. If the ‘Auto detect’ button is pressed, then the video lock will automatically switch to ‘serial lock’. If auto detect is subsequently cancelled, the unit will remain in serial lock.

For dual link systems, clicking the ‘Dual-link’ button forces the auto detect circuit to assume it has found a dual link input based on whatever format it finds on Link A or Link B. The drop down menu is also extended. All the single link formats are listed as for the regular XR system, but underneath these is the complete list of supported Dual Link formats, including the 2K formats.

Note that clicking on the ‘Dual-link’ button only changes the action of the Auto detect circuit. It does not of itself cause the unit to switch into, or out of, dual link mode. You must look at the video standard specified in the drop down box to see if you are currently running in a single or dual video format.
