SERVICE A ADJUSTMENTS

TO START ENGINE WITH A WEAK BATTERY

(See Fig. 29)

CAUTION: Lead-acid batteries gener-

and smoking materials away from bat- ateexptosivegases. Keep sparks, flame teries. Always wear eye protection when around batteries.

If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be

rectlarged_ if "jumper cables" are used for emergency starting, follow this procedure:

IMPORTANT: YOUR TRACTOR IS EQUIPPED WiTH A 12

VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM. THE OTHER

VEHICLE MUST ALSO BE A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM. DO NOT USE YOUR TRACTOR BATTERY TO START OTHER VEHICLES.

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -

oConnect each end of the RED cable to the POSITIVE

(+)terminal of each battery, taking care not to short against chassis,

Connect one end of the BLACK cable to the NEGA- TIVE (-) terminat of fully charged battery_

=Connect the other end of the BLACK cable to good CHASSIS GROUND, away from fuel tankand battery.

TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER -

=BLACK cable first from chassis and then from the fully charged battery

. RED cable last from both batteries,

TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB

=Raise hood

Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the griiL

. Replace bulb in holder and push bulb holder securely back into the hole in the backside of the grill

°Close hood.

INTERLOCKS AND RELAYS

Loose or damaged wiring may cause your tractor to run poorty, stop running, or prevent it from starting

=Check wiring, See electrical wiring diagram in the Repair Parts section of this manual

TO REPLACE FUSE

Replace with 30 amp automotive-type ptug-in fuse The fuse holder is located behind the dash,

TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY

(See Fig. 30)

°Raise hood

o Unsnap headlight wire connector,

°Stand in front of tractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward engine and lift off of tractor,

. To replace, reverse above procedures
