GAS AND OIL FILL-UP

Oil (one bottle shipped with unit)

FirstTime Use

1.Removeoil fill dipstick.

2.Withthe chippershredderonlevelground,usea funnelto empty entirecontentsof oil bottleprovidedintothe engine.

3.Replaceoil fill dipstickandtighten.

Subsequent Uses

Onlyuse highqualitydetergentoil ratedwithAPIserviceclassification SF,SG,or SH. Selectthe oil'sSAEviscositygradeaccordingto the expectedoperatingtemperature.Followthe chartbelow.

Alcoholblendedfuels(calledgasoholor usingethanolor methanol) can attractmoisturewhichleadsto separationand formationof acids duringstorage.Acidicgascan damagethe fuel systemof anengine whilein storage.

Toavoidengineproblems,thefuel systemshouldbeemptiedbefore storagefor 30daysorlonger.Drainthe gas tank,startthe engine

andlet it rununtilthe fuel linesandcarburetorare empty.Use freshfuel nextseason.See STORAGEInstructionsfor additional

Althoughmulti-viscosityoils (5W30,10W30,etc.)improvestarting incold weather,theywill resultinincreasedoil consumptionwhen usedabove32°E Checkyourengineoillevel morefrequentlyto avoid possibleenginedamagefromrunninglowon oil.

1.Checkthe oil levelmakingcertainnotto rubthe dipstickalongthe insidewallsof the oil fill tube.Thiswouldresultina falsedipstick reading.Wipedipstickcleanwithcloth. Replaceandtighten dipstick.Removeandcheckoil level.Refillto FULLmarkon dipstick,if necessary.Capacityis approximately28oz. Overfilling willcausethe engineto smokeprofuselyandwill resultinpoor engineperformance.

2.Replaceoil fill dipstickandtighten.

lUseextremecare whenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremely flammableandthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuelmachineindoors or whilethe engineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars, pipes,andothersourcesof ignition.

3.Keepoil levelat FULL.Runningtheenginewithtoo littleoil can resultinpermanentenginedamage.

Gasoline

1.Removefuel cap fromthefuel tank.

2.Makesurethe containerfromwhichyouwill pourthegasolineis cleanandfreefromrustor foreignparticles.Neveruse gasoline thatmaybestalefromlongperiodsof storagein itscontainer.

Gasolinethathasbeensittingfor anyperiodlongerthanfour weeksshouldbeconsideredstale.

3.Fillfuel tankwithclean,fresh,unleadedregulargasolineonly. Do

not usegasolinecontainingMETHANOLReplacefuelcap..

Neveruseengineorcarburetorcleanerproductsinthe fuel tankor permanentdamagemayoccur.

NOTE:Checkthe fuel levelperiodicallyto avoid runningout of gaso- linewhileoperatingthe chippershredder.Ifthe unit runsout of gas as it is chipping,it maybe necessaryto unclogthe dischargeareabefore it can be restarted.Referto SERVICEANDMAINTENANCEsection.

TO START ENGINE

1.Attach sparkplugwireand rubberbootto sparkplug.

2.Filltankto nomorethan 1/2 inchbelowbottomof filler neckto providespacefor fuel expansion.

3.Turnthe fuel shut-offvalveto the ONposition.

4.Movethechokeleveronthe engineto CHOKEI'i,I position.(A warmenginemaynot requirechoking.)See Figure10.

5.Movethrottlecontrolto START/RUN(Rabbit),_ position.See Figure10.

6.Standingbehindthe unit,grasp starterhandleand pullropeout untilyoufeel a drag.
