Inspectmufflerevery50 hours,andreplaceif necessary. Replacementpartsfor themufflermustbethe sameandinstalled inthe samepositionas theoriginalparts.

Clean Engine

Dailyor beforeeveryuse,cleangrass,chaffor accumulated debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,andcontrolsclean. Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeof any combustible debris.

Keepingenginecleanallowsairmovementaroundengine.

Enginepartsshouldbe keptcleanto reducethe riskof overheat- ingand ignitionof accumulateddebris.

Do not usewaterto cleanengineparts.Watercouldcontaminatefuel system.Usea brushor drycloth.

Carburetor Adjustment

Thecarburetoronthis engineis not adjustable.

Do not,attemptto alterthe enginespeedby tamperingwiththe engines governorlinkage.Doingsocould resultin seriouspersonal I injuryanddamageto the engine.The engineRPMhasbeensetat thefactory.

Engine Speed

LUBRICATION

Hopper Assembly-Lubricatethe pivotpointson the hopper assemblywithlight oiloncea season.

Discharge Chute- Lubricatethe pivotpointsonthe discharge chutewithlight oilonce a season.

ReleaseRod- Lubricatethe releaserodand springwith lightoil oncea season.

CLEAN EQUIPMENT

Cleanthechippershredderthoroughlyaftereachuse.

Washbagperiodicallywithwater.Allowto dry thoroughlyin shade.

Ifthe flail screenbecomesclogged,removeandcleanas instructedbelow.

NOTE:Cleaningwitha forcefulsprayof wateris not recommendedas it couldcontaminatethefuel system.

Beforeperformingany typeof maintenanceonthe machine,waitfor all partsto stopmovinganddisconnectthe sparkplugwire. Failure to followthis instructioncouldresultin personalinjuryor property damage.

REMOVING THE FLAIL SCREEN

Ifthe dischargeareabecomesclogged,removethe flail screenand cleanareaas follows:

1.Stopthe engine.Makecertainthe chippershredderhascometo a completestop.

2.Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplugandgroundagainst the engine.

3.A. Removethe bagandtwowingknobsoneach sideof thechute deflector.SeeFigure14.

B.Liftthe chutedeflectorupto keepit out of the way.

C.Removethetwo hairpinclipsfromeach clevispinwhich extendthroughthe housingand removepins.

D.Removethe flail screenfrominsidethe housingandcleanthe screenby scrapingor washingwith water.SeeFigure14.

4.Reinstallthe screen,makingcertainto reassemblethe flail screen withthe curvesidedown.

5.Reattachthechutedeflectorwiththe hardwarepreviouslyremoved andconnectthe bagto unit.

SHARPENING OR REPLACING CHIPPER

BLADES

1.Disconnectthe sparkplugwireandgroundagainstthe engine.

2.Removethe flail screenas instructedinthe previoussection.

3.Removethe chipperchuteby removingthreehexnutsand washers.
