Servicing the Air Cleaner

Do notuse pressurizedairor solventsto cleanthe aircleaner cartridge.

Theair cleanerpreventsdamagingdirt, dust,etc.,fromenteringthe carburetorand beingforcedintothe engineandis importantto engine life andperformance.Neverrunthe enginewithoutan aircleaner completelyassembled.

Replacetheaircleanerevery25 hoursof operation.

1.Loosenscrewsthatholdthe airfiltercover.

2.Opencoverandremoveair filter.See Figure12.

3.Discardold airfilter.

4.Installnewairfilter.

5.Closethe coverandtightenscrews.

NOTE:Ifthe filter istorn ordamagedin anyway,replaceit. Check Engine Oil

1.Checkoilbeforeeachuse. Stopengineandwaitseveralminutes beforecheckingoil level.Withengineon levelground,the oil must beto FULLmarkon dipstick.

2.Removeoilfill dipstickandwipeclean withcloth.

3.Replaceandtightendipstick.Removeandcheckoil level.Level shouldbeat FULLmark.

4.If needed,addoil slowly- recheck.Do notoverfill.

5.Wipedipstickclean,replaceandtighten.Removeandcheckoil level.Oil levelshouldbe at FULLlineondipstick.

Donotoverfill.Overfillingwithoil maycausethe engineto not start,or hardstarting.If overthe FULLmarkon thedipstick,drainoilto reduce oil levelto FULLmarkondipstick.

Change Engine Oil

*Onlyuse highqualitydetergentoil ratedwithAPIservice classificationSF,SG, orSH. Selecttheoil'sSAEviscositygrade accordingto the expectedoperatingtemperature.Refertoopera- tion sectionfor viscositychart.

,Changeengineoil afterthe first fiveto eighthoursof operation, andeveryfifty hoursoreveryseasonthereafter.Changeoil every twentyfivehourswhenoperatingengineunderheavyloador in hightemperatures.

To Drain Oil

1.Drainthe fuelfromthe tankby runningthe engineuntil thefuel tankis empty.

2.WithengineOFFbutstillwarm,disconnectsparkplugwire and keepitawayfromsparkplug.

6.Replacesparkplugwire beforestarting.
