Cooling system

To obtain the lowest possible running temperature the saw is

equipped with a cooling

system.The cooling system

consists of:

1.

Air intake on the starter

unit.

2.

Air guide plate.

3.

Fan blades on the

flywheel.

4.

Cooling fins on the

cylinder.

5.

Cylinder cowling

(supplies cold air over

the cylinder).

Clean the cooling system with a brush once a week, more often in demanding conditions. A dirty or blocked cooling system results in the saw overheating which causes damage to piston and cylinder.

Centrifugal cleaning ”Turbo”

Centrifugal cleaning means the following:

All air to the carburetor is carried through the starter. Dirt and dust is centrifuged away by the cooling fan.

IMPORTANT! In order to keep the function of the centrifugal cleaning, a continous maintenance and care must be made.

• Clean the air intake to the starter, the fan wings of the flywheel, the space around the flywheel, inlet pipe and carburetor space.

Heated handles

(CS 2163 W/CS 2171 W)

Both the front handle and the rear handle are equipped with electrical heating coils. These are supplied with electricity both from a built-in generator in the electrical system. The switch for the heating coils is placed below the stop switch. When the red marking is visible, the heating is on.

Electrically heated carburettor (CS 2163 WH/CS 2171 WH)

Canada

This chain saw is, if it has model code WH, equipped with electrically heated carburettor. The electrical heating prevents icing in the carburettor. A thermostat regulates heating so that the carburettor always has the correct temperature.

All other countries

This chain saw is, if it has model code WH, equipped with electrically regulated carburettor heating. The carburettor heating system is regulated with a 3-way switch.

Temperature range

The carburettor heater is used in the following temperature range: ±0º C or colder. During high humidity icing of the carburettor can occur earlier than specified.

The carburettor heater only heats the carburettor when the 3-way switch is set to position ”II”.

The switch is off in position ”0”

supplies current to the handle heater in position ”I” supplies current to the carburettor in position ”II”

NOTE! The carburettor heater reaches maximum temperature after about 3 minutes. It is therefore important that the saw is not run for longer with the heater switched on. If the switch is left on for longer the carburettor will overheat and lead to running problems or starting problems.

Winter use

During winter time, powder snow and cold weather can cause running problems, such as:

Too low engine temperature.

Icing on the air filter and carburetor.

Therefore some special measures are required:

Partly reduce the air inlet of the starter and by doing that increase the engine temperature.

CS 2165, CS 2171, CS2163 specifications

The Jonsered CS2163, CS2171, and CS2165 are a trio of powerful chain saws designed for professionals and serious enthusiasts alike. These models are particularly noteworthy for their blend of performance, durability, and user-friendly features, making them suitable for a wide range of cutting tasks.

The Jonsered CS2163 is equipped with a robust 3.1 kW engine, providing ample power for various cutting jobs, from felling trees to limbing and even cutting firewood. One of its notable features is the Quick-Release Air Filter, which allows for easy access and maintenance, ensuring optimal engine performance. Additionally, the CS2163 incorporates the Smart Start technology that reduces the resistance in the starter cord, allowing users to start the saw with minimal effort.

The CS2171, on the other hand, is a more advanced model designed for heavy-duty applications. This saw comes with a 3.4 kW engine and boasts a larger cutting capacity, making it perfect for professional users who tackle more demanding tasks. Its X-Torq engine design significantly lowers fuel consumption and emissions, aligning with environmental standards while delivering exceptional power. The CS2171 also features an anti-vibration system that enhances user comfort during extended cutting sessions, therefore maximizing productivity without sacrificing ease of use.

The CS2165 occupies a sweet spot between the CS2163 and CS2171, offering a balance of power and efficiency. Powered by a 3.2 kW engine, it provides ample performance for most tasks while still being lightweight for easy maneuverability. This model includes the same Quick-Release Air Filter found in the CS2163, making maintenance a breeze. The CS2165 also features an adjustable oil pump, allowing users to customize the oil flow to the chain based on their specific cutting needs, enhancing the longevity of both the saw and the chain.

All three models prioritize user safety, featuring a chain brake system that quickly halts the chain in case of kickback. Furthermore, the ergonomic design of the handles offers a comfortable grip, reducing fatigue during longer cutting sessions.

In summary, the Jonsered CS2163, CS2171, and CS2165 are exceptional chainsaws that cater to the needs of professionals and enthusiasts alike, combining power, technology, and ease of use in one reliable package. Their innovative features, efficient engines, and focus on user comfort make them an excellent choice for anyone in need of a high-performance chainsaw.
