Narrow SCSI device (as opposed to Wide SCSI device)

This is the term attributed to today’s 8 bit standard SCSI devices. This term is necessary to distinguish today’s 8-bit SCSI devices to 16-bit Wide SCSI devices.

PIO (Programmed Input/Output)

A method of data transfer in which the host microprocessor transfers data to and from memory via the computer’s I/O ports. PIO enables very fast data transfer rates, especially in single- tasking operating systems like DOS.
