AR400 Series Router

5.Configure the router.

You can configure the router using the GUI wizards or menu.

Important To ensure configuration settings are saved correctly, use the GUI menus and buttons to navigate, not your browser’s buttons.

Caution As a security precaution, change the password as soon as possible. Remember the new password, as there is no way to retrieve it if it is lost.

Use the wizard and other configuration menu options to configure the router. To change the ‘manager’ password, follow the basic setup wizard, or select Management > Users from the sidebar menu. Select the ‘manager’ user name and click Modify.

To access context-sensitive help in the GUI, click on the Help button [Help]. The Help button is located at the top of the sidebar menu or on any popup page. For more information about the GUI, see the Using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) chapter in the Software Reference.

6.Save the configuration.

The first time you start the router, it uses the default configuration in the file boot.cfg.

Save your configuration to a new file, and set the router to use this file when it restarts. We strongly recommend leaving the boot.cfg file unchanged, in case you need to revert to the original default configuration. Some wizards save the configuration automatically. If your configuration is not saved yet, the Save button is red.

7.Advanced configuration.

If necessary, use the command line to complete the configuration if necessary (“Using the CLI to configure the router” on page 23). Use the commands in the Software Reference.
