Random Play Shuffle (M.I.X.)

Quick Search

You can search for songs.

1Press and hold 24-EN for at least 2 seconds to activate Quick Search mode.

2Turn the Rotary encoder to select a desired song. The selected song is played back immediately.

While in the search mode, if you press and hold Manual background for at least 2 seconds, or no operation is performed for 10 seconds, the search mode is canceled.

If many songs are in iPod, it takes time to search for songs.

Random Play Shuffle (M.I.X.)

The Shuffle function of the iPod is displayed as M.I.X. on the CDA-9857.

Shuffle Albums:

Album shuffle playback plays back all songs in order, then randomly selects the next album. All songs of that album are played back in order, and so on. Any one album is played just once.

Shuffle Songs:

Song shuffle randomly plays back certain selected songs. Any one song plays back just once until all songs have been played back.

1Press 5 Manual background .

The songs will be played back in random sequence.

2To cancel M.I.X. play, select (off) with the above procedure.

For details of the search mode, refer to “Searching for a desired Song” (page 22).

If a song is selected in the album search mode before selecting Shuffle (M.I.X.), the songs will not play back randomly even when Shuffle album is selected.

Shuffle ALL:

Shuffle ALL plays all songs in the iPod randomly. Any one song does not play back again until all songs have been played back.

1Press 6.

The songs will be played back in random sequence.

2To cancel M.I.X. play, select (off) with the above procedure.

If Shuffle ALL is selected, the selected ones which are being played back in the search mode are canceled.

Repeat Play

Only Repeat One is available for the iPod.

Repeat One: A single song is repeatedly played back.

1Press Manual background 4.

The file will be played repeatedly.

2To cancel repeat play, select (off) with the above procedure.

During repeat playback, no other songs are selectable by pressing

Manual background or Manual background.

Displaying the Text

You can display the tag information of a song in the iPod.

Press TITLE.

If the Scroll setting (page 18) is set to “Auto,” the tag information will scroll automatically.

If there is no text information, nothing will be displayed.

*2 The numbers of all songs displayed vary depending on the songs selected by the search.

*3 When the Scroll setting (page 18) is set to "Auto", the display cannot be switched by pressing TITLE. The display contents switch alternately.

When the Scroll Setting (page 18) is set to “Manual”

press and hold TITLE for at least 2 seconds to scroll the tag information only once.

Only alphanumeric characters (ASCII) can be displayed.

If the artist, album or song name, created in iTunes, has too many characters, songs may not be played back when connected to the adapter. Therefore, a maximum of 250 characters is recommended. The maximum number of characters for the head unit is 128 (128 byte).

Some characters may not be correctly displayed.

“NO SUPPORT” is displayed when text information is not compatible with the CDA-9857.
