Equalizer Presets
10 typical equalizer settings are preset at the factory for a variety of
musical source material.
1Press MENU to select Factory's EQ (P-EQ for
CDA-9830).
2Press either g or f.
With each press of the button, the equalizer mode will
display the selected equalizer characteristic.
FLAT(OFF) ↔ ROCK ↔ POPS ↔ JAZZ & BLUES (JAZZ) ↔
ELECTRICAL (ELECTRIC) ↔ HIPHOP & RAP (HIPHOP) ↔
EASY LISTEN (EASY) ↔ COUNTRY ↔ CLASSICAL (CLASSIC)
↔ NEWS ↔ USER'S EQ 1,2 (USERS 1,2) ↔ FLAT(OFF)
3Press MENU to select RETURN.
The unit returns to normal mode.
Pressing and holding MENU for at least 2 seconds will
return to normal mode.
•This function is inoperable when DEFEAT is set to ON (page 14).
•EQ mode is automatically canceled if no buttons are pressed
within 15 seconds.
•By selecting USER'S EQ 1 or EQ 2 (USERS 1 or USERS 2 for
CDA-9830), you can recall the stored preset number in "Adjusting
and Storing the Equalizer Curve."
Adjusting and Storing the Equalizer Curve
You can modify the Equalizer settings to create a response curve more
appealing to your personal taste.
1Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.
2Press MENU to select USER'S EQ (USERS for
CDA-9830).
3Press BAND/TEL. to select your desired
frequency band.
BAND1 → BAND2 → BAND3 → BAND4 → BAND1
4Press g or f to select your desired
frequency.
Adjustable frequency bands:
BAND1 : 40Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz
BAND2 : 100Hz, 150Hz, 200Hz
BAND3 : 500Hz, 700Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 6kHz
BAND4 : 10kHz, 12.5kHz, 15kHz
5Turn the Rotary encoder to adjust the level.
6Press SOURCE/POWER to select your desired
band width (Q).
Adjustable band width:
BAND1 : 1.0, 2.0, 3.0,
BAND2 : 1.0, 1.5, 2.0
BAND3 : 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
BAND4 : 1.0 (fixed band width)
To store the adjusted curve
1)Press and hold, for at least 2 seconds, the preset
buttons (1 or 2) into which you wish to store the adjusted
curve.
7To set another channel, repeat steps 3 to 6.
8Press the Rotary encoder to confirm the
adjusted contents.
The adjusted contents are not stored if the Rotary encoder
is not pressed.
9After setting, press MENU to select RETURN.
The unit returns to normal mode.

return to normal mode.

Recalling the Stored Equalizer Curve
1Press and hold MENU for at least 2 seconds.
2Press MENU to select USER'S EQ (USERS for
CDA-9830).
3Press either preset button (1 or 2) to activate
your desired curve.
4Press MENU to select RETURN.
The unit returns to normal mode.
Pressing and holding MENU for at least 2 seconds will
return to normal mode.
•EQ mode is automatically canceled if no operation is performed
within 15 seconds.
•This function is inoperable when DEFEAT is set to ON (page 14).
•You can recall the adjusted equalizer curve from "Equalizer Presets"
(this page).
