Trouble Shooting
You may save time and money by checking items below before calling for service. List includes common concerns that
are not the result of defective workmanship or materials. If your question is not explained below, contact Amana

NOISE

Vibrating noise Dryer may not be resting firmly on fl oor Some vibration is normal. Adjus t l evel i ng legs so dryer
rests firmly on floor. See
Installation Instructions
for
leveling details.
Loose objects, such as c oins or pins Stop dryer and check f or loose objects. Remov e loose
objects if possible.
Thumping, rattling, or
clanking noise
Belt buckles, metal f asteners hitting drum Close zippers, buttons, and fasteners. Clothing with
buckles should be turned inside out.
Whirling sound As air moves through the dry, a whirling
sound may be noticed Normal
Pulsating sound When the drum rotates, it may creat e a
pulsating sound Normal
Clicking sound Many of the parts, such as the timer, click as
they operate Normal

OPERATION

Dryer does not run Ele c trical power cord may not be plugged in,
or connection may be l oose Make sure plug from power cord fits tightly into wall outlet.
Fuse blown, circuit br eaker tripped, or power
outage occurred Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker. Do N OT increase
fuse capacity. Call qu alified electrician to corr ect circuit
overload problem. Call local utility company t o correct
power outage.
Dryer door is not closed Push door closed.
Timer knob must be pushed in to restart
dryer If dryer door was op ened during a cycle, th e timer knob
must be pushed in to r estart the cycle.
Dryer does not heat Dryer set to FLUFF/NO HEAT setting Reset FABRIC SELECTOR knob.
Damper on weather hood is stuck cl os ed or
frozen Severely restrict ed airflow will cause dryer to stop heating.
Check weather hood an d exhaust system for restr ictions.
Gas supply is shut off (Ga s Dry ers Only) Check other gas appliances in house for gas supply.

APPEARANCE

Screen in back of drum
darkens Heat causes the metal t o darken Normal. Will not affect p erformance.
Dryer drum becomes stained Fabric dyes that are not s et can stain the
dryer drum Make a paste from powdered deterg en t an d rub on st ain.
Though you may not be able remove st ain immediately, the
stain may fade and dis appear over time.
