How to Access the NMC The following paragraphs describe the various ways you can use different interfaces
to access the NMC when it is running on your network.
Note:For more detailed information about how to use these interfaces,
reference the APC Network Management Card User’s Guide.
Web Interface
The Web interface provides options to manage a Management Card, its UPS, and
other supported devices. If a device is not present, the Web interface displays no
options for that device. For example:
• A Management Card’s Web interface that only connects with an environmental
monitor does not provide UPS options.
• The Network Management Card’s Web interface does not provide options for an
Integrated Environmental Monitor.
Several Web browsers are supported to access the Management Card through its
Web nterface. They include:
• Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 and higher (on Windows operating systems
only)
• Firefox, version 1.x from Mozilla Corporation (on all operating systems)
• Netscape 7.x and higher (on all operating systems)
Reference Web (Administration>Network>Web>options) in the Network Management
Card User’s Guide for information concerning how to select, enable, and disable the
protocols that control access to the Web interface, as well as to define the Web server
ports for the various protocols.
Teln et
You can use Telnet to view the event log, or to configure management card options.
1. At the command prompt, type telnet address and press ENTER, where address
is the management card’s IP address, or DNS name (if configured that way).
2. Enter the User Name and Password (the default is apc for both).
SNMP
After you add the PowerNet MIB to a standard SNMP MIB browser, you can use
that browser for SNMP access to a management card. Refer to the Network
Management Card User’s Guide for more information about SNMP.
