messages: those left on its built-in di gital answering system
and those left at your telephone service prov ider’s voicemail
(fees may apply). Your telephone’s built-in digital answering
system messages and voicemail message s are separate.

If and New voicemail display on the handset, your telephone service
provider is indicating that it has new voicemail fo r you. To listen to
your voicemail, you typically dial an access numb er provided by your
telephone service provider, followed by a securit y code or PIN.
Some telephone service providers bun dle or combine multiple services
like voicemail and call waiting, so you may not be aware th at you have

contact your telephone service provider.
To use your voicemail service rather than your answerin g system, turn off
your answering system. To use your answering sy stem rather than your
voicemail service, contact your telephon e service provider to deactivate
your voicemail service.
NOTE: After reviewing all new messages, the number of old messages appears on the
message window.

You can also use your telephone answering system an d voicemail together
by setting your built-in answering system to an swer before voicemail
answers as described below. To learn how to program your voicema il
settings, contact your telephone ser vice provider. Then, if you are on a call,
or if the answering system is busy recordi ng a message and you receive
another call, the second caller can leave a voicemai l message.
Set your answering system to answer call s at least two rings earlier than
your voicemail is set to answer. For example, if your voicemail ans wers
after six rings, set your answering s ystem to answer after four rings.
Some voicemail providers may program the del ay before answering calls
in seconds instead of rings. In this case , allow six seconds per ring when
determining the appropriate setting.
