5TREBLE CONTROL

To adjust the treble level (Equalizer function inactive), first select the Treble mode by pressing the SEL button so the TRE indication appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Treble mode, press the VOL - button to decrease the treble response or the VOL + button to increase it as desired. The level will be shown on the display panel from a minimum TRE -10to a maximum of TRE +10 (TRE 00 indicates flat response). The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

6LEFT/RIGHT BALANCE CONTROL

To adjust the left-right speaker balance, first select the Balance mode by pressing the SEL button so the BAL indication appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Balance mode, press the VOL - button to adjust the stereo balance to the left channel speakers or the VOL + button to adjust it to the right channel speakers. The balance position will be shown on the display panel from BAL 10L (full left) to BAL 10R (full right). When the volume level between the left and right speakers is equal, BAL L--Rwill be shown on the display panel. The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

7FRONT/REAR FADER CONTROL

To adjust the front-rear speaker balance, first select the Fader mode by pressing the SEL button so the FAD indication appears on the display panel. Within 5 seconds of choosing the Fader mode, press the VOL - button to adjust the front-rear speaker balance to the rear speakers or the VOL + button to adjust it to the front speakers. The fader position will be shown on the display panel from FAD 10R (full rear) to FAD 10F (full front). When the level between the front and rear speakers is equal, FAD F--Rwill be shown on the display panel. The display will automatically return to the normal indication 5 seconds after the last adjustment or when another function is activated.

8LOUDNESS CONTOUR (LOUD)

When listening to music at low volume levels, this feature will boost the bass and treble ranges to compensate for the characteristics of human

hearing. Press and hold the BAND/LOUD button for

2 seconds to activate this feature and the indication LOUD ON will appear for 5 seconds on the display panel. Pressing the button againfor 2 seconds will deactivate the feature and the LOUD OFFindication will appear for 5 seconds and then disappear. Mo- mentarily pressing this button will activate the AM/ FM band function bl.

9AUDIO MUTE (MUTE)

This button is used to mute the volume from the system. By pressing the button, the current display (radio frequency, or CD player/changer disc/track indication) will be replaced by a flashing MUTE indi- cation, and the volume will be muted. Although vol- ume is muted in CD play mode, the disc/track indica- tion will continue to increment, indicating continua- tion of disc play. Pressing the MUTE button again, or activating any other button, except MODE (AUX), will return the volume level to the setting in use be- fore the Mute function was activated. If a disc is being played, and the CD PAUSE button is pressed, the Mute function will be deactivated when disc play is unpaused.

bl AM/FM BAND SELECTOR (BAND)

Each time the BAND/LOUD button is pressed momentarily, the radio band is changed. The indication FM1, FM2, FM3 or AM will appear on the display panel according to your selection. When this button is pressed and held for 2 seconds or more, the LOUD function 8 is activated.

bm UP/DOWN TUN ( / ) BUTTONS

To select a radio station, momentarily press the Up

Tuning ( ) button to advance the unit higher, or

the Down Tuning ( ) button to tune lower within the selected band. In the LOCAL mode, each momentary press will advance or lower the tuning frequency to the next active local station; in the DX mode, each momentary press will advance or lower tuning to the next active distant station. When the TUN button is pressed and held, MANUAL appears momentarily on the display accompanied by a beep tone, and the radio is rapidly tuned upward or downward without pause as long as the button is pressed. When the button is released, tuning stops at the displayed station. If further tuning is not performed within 5 seconds, AUTO momentarily appears on the display, and tuning reverts to the previous tuning mode.
