RETRAIT ET MISE AU REBUT DES PILES

Le produit utilise des piles rechargeables et recyclables au nickel- cadmium. Lorsqu’elles ne peuvent plus être rechargées, il faut les retirer et les recycler ou les mettre au rebut de manière appropriée. Il ne faut pas les incinérer ni les jeter au compostage.

IMPORTANT : NE PAS TENTER DE RETIRER LE COUVERCLE EN PLASTIQUE DES PILES.

Retrait

1.Retirer le couteau de l’appareil (consulter la rubrique relative au nettoyage et à l’entretien). Utiliser un petit tournevis Phillips pour retirer

les vis de l’appareil et dégager les deux

 

moitiés du corps. On voit alors deux

piles en forme de barils et les

connexions. Lorsque les piles ont

 

coulé ou si elles sont éventrées,

 

porter des gants protecteurs

 

avant d’y toucher.

 

2. Débrancher le fil négatif (-) noir d’une des piles en faisant glisser la connexion hors de la pile (D). Débrancher le fil positif (+) rouge de la même manière. Sortir l’ensemble de piles.

Les raisons pour lesquelles il faut recycler les piles rechargeables? Contrairement aux piles alcalines qui ne durent que quelques semaines avant d’être remplacées, les piles au nickel-cadmium peuvent être rechargées à plusieurs reprises. Même si elles durent plus longtemps que les piles alcalines (habituellement, entre 5 et 7 ans), elles perdent éventuellement leur capacité de charge. Le cas échéant, certains consommateurs jettent ces piles ou le produit ce qui peut nuire à l’environnement. Pour parer à cette éventualité, communiquer avec le centre de recyclage de la région afin de savoir où déposer les piles usées, ou communiquer sans frais avec le service à la clientèle au

■Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme conditions. If the liquid, which is a 20-35% solution of potassium hydroxide, gets on the skin (1) wash quickly with soap and water or (2) neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. If the liquid gets into the eyes, flush them immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes. Seek medical attention.
