Hold tools by insulated gripping surfaces
when performing an operation where the
cutting tool ma y conta ct hidd en wiri ng.
Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed
metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the
operator.
Use clam ps or o ther pr actic al way to
secure and s upport the workpiec e to a
stable platform. Holding the work by hand
or agai nst yo ur bod y is unstable and may
lead to loss of control.
Do not drill, fasten or break into existing walls
or other blind a reas where electrical wiring
may exi st. I f this situa tion i s una voidable,
disconnect all fuses or circuit breakers feeding
this worksite.
Alwa ys we ar s afe ty go ggl es or eye
protection when using this tool.
Wear ear protectors when using the tool for
extended p eriods. Prolonged exposure to
high intensity noise can cause hearing loss.
Use thick cushioned gloves and limit the
exposu re t ime by t aking fre quent rest
periods. Vibration caused by hamm er-drill
action may b e har mful t o you r han ds and
arms.
Secure the material being fastened. Never
hold it in your hand or across your legs.
Unstable suppor t can cause los s of control
and injury.
Avoid accid ental star ting. Be sure the
forw ard /rev ers e swi tch i s in th e off
position bef ore i nsertin g ba ttery pack.
Carrying appliances with your finger on the
switch or inserting the batte ry pack into an
appliance with the switch on invites
accidents.
Remove batt ery pack befor e ch anging
accessories. Accidental starting may occur
because battery appliances with a battery
inserted are in the operative condition.
Be prepare d for a re action to rque when
“seati ng” or r emovin g a fas tener. The
screwdriver housing may tend to twist in the
opposite direction of bit rotation when
“seating” or removing a fastener depending
on the torque setting of the tool.
Do n ot use dul l o r d amag ed bits and
accessories. When installing an accessory,
insert the shank of the bit w ell w ithin the
chuck. Be sure the chuck ha s locked onto
the bit correctly.
Do not run the tool while carrying it at
your side . A spi nning bit co uld becom e
entangled with clothing and injury may result.
Place the tool onto the fastener only when
the screwdriv er is switched off. Rota ting
driver tools can slide off the fastener.
Do not use t his too l a s a d rill . T ool s
equip ped wit h s hut- off clu tche s a re not
designed for drilling applications. The clutch
can shu t off au tom atic all y a nd wit hou t
warning.
Be car eful when driving long scre ws –
there is a risk of slidi ng off the fastener
head depending on type of socket or bi t
used. First test the run-down of a fastener
and pay attention during the screw driving
process to ensure you do not injure yourself
if t he tool bit or so cket sli des off of the
fastener.
Some dus t cr eate d by
power san ding, saw ing,
grinding, dril ling and other construction
activities cont ains chemicals know n to
caus e c anc er, bi rth def ect s o r othe r
repro ducti ve harm . S ome exam ples of
these chemicals are:
Lead from lead-based paints
Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and
other masonry products.
Arsenic and chrom ium from chemica lly
treated lumber.
Your ri sk fro m thes e expo sur es var ies
depending on how often you do this type of
work. To redu ce y our expos ure to these
chemicals, work in a well-ventilated area and
work with approved safety equipment such
as d ust masks design ed t o f ilte r o ut
microscopic particles.
