BLADE REPLACEMENT

The mower deck must be securely blocked up or locked in place before doing a blade replacement. When replacing or grinding blades, all three blades must be replaced or reground at the same time to maintain the proper balance in the cutting unit. Use heavy leather gloves to handle the blades. It is easiest to remove the centre bolt if you anchor the blade solidly. There are devices sold at hardware stores for this purpose. Be sure to tighten the centre bolt and lock washer securely when replacing blades. Use a torque wrench to re-tighten spindle bolts to 180 ft.-lbs. The bolts have a patch of thread lock material pre-applied which will hold for up to five usages. If replacing the lock washer, use an extra heavy duty as supplied with the spindle.
