D. Piping for Special Situations1) Systemscontainingoxygen-Manyhydronicsystemscontainenoughdissolvedoxygentocauseseverecorrosiondamageto
analuminumboilersuchastheCHG.Someexamplesinclude:
• Radiantsystemsthatemploytubingwithoutanoxygenbarrier.
• Systemswithroutineadditionsoffreshwater.
• Systemswhichareopentotheatmosphere.
Iftheboileristobeusedinsuchasystem,itmustbeseparatedfromtheoxygenatedwaterbeingheatedwithaheat
exchangerasshowninFigure8.13.Consulttheheatexchangermanufacturerforproperheatexchangersizingaswellas
owandtemperaturerequirements.Allcomponentsontheoxygenatedsideoftheheatexchanger,suchasthepumpand
expansiontank,mustbedesignedforuseinoxygenatedwater.
