Engine Speed

The speed at which the backhoe operates is partially

dependent on e ngine RPM. Use a moder ate engine

speed to start and increase it as your experience per-

mits. Refer to “SPEC IFICATIONS” for hydraul ic flow

volume requir ements. W hen powering from tractor

systems wi th highe r output, red uce engine RPM to

obtain acceptable backhoe operating speed.

CONTROLS

The backh oe has two majo r con trol l evers plus the

stabilizer co ntrol levers. These controls a

re located

on the control console directly ahead of the operator.

See Figure 2. Th e following is a

list of the controls,

with the function of each, reading from left to right.

2. Boo m/S wing: Pus h lever f

moves down, a way from the operator. Pul

back, the boom moves up, toward the operator.

The Boom/Swing Control Lever has an added

“float”

function . A detent or st op s hould be felt

when the

lever is pushed forward to move

the boom do wn.

Pushing the leve r forward more wi

ll overcome the

detent and cause the boom to float, or move down or

up freely, depending on the forces acting on it. When

the le ver i s r eleased it sh ould re turn to the ce nter,

neutral position.

Move lever to the left, the backhoe swings to the left.

Move lever to the right, the backhoe sw

ings to th e

By moving the lever to o ne of th e intermediate po si-

tions,

the boom can be swung left or right a

time it is be ing raised or lowered, performing

the two operations simultaneously.

SWING LEFT AND LOWER the boom by moving the control lever forward and to the left.
