Adjust the exposure compensation setting to avoid making the subject too dark when it is backlit or shot against a bright background or to avoid making lights appear too bright in night shots.

1Turn on the LCD monitor.

2Press the Manual background button several times until the exposure compensation bar is displayed.

!Use the Manual background or Manual background buttons to adjust the exposure compensation and press the Manual background button.

!Depending on the shooting mode,

pressing the Manual background button will switch between the setting items as follows:

Manual backgroundManual backgroundManual background mode/Exposure compensation

Manual background* Shutter speed/Exposure compensation

Manual background* Aperture value/Exposure compensation

* PowerShot A540 only

To Cancel the Exposure Compensation

Restore the compensation value to [0].

Exposure compensation is not available in the Manual backgroundManual background ( Manual background , Manual background ) modes.
