Adjust the exposure compensation setting to avoid making the subject too dark when it is backlit or shot against a bright background or to avoid making lights appear too bright in night shots.

1Turn on the LCD monitor.

2Press the button several times until the exposure compensation bar is displayed.

!Use the or buttons to adjust the exposure compensation and press the button.

!Depending on the shooting mode,

pressing the button will switch between the setting items as follows:

mode/Exposure compensation

* Shutter speed/Exposure compensation

* Aperture value/Exposure compensation

* PowerShot A540 only

To Cancel the Exposure Compensation

Restore the compensation value to [0].

Exposure compensation is not available in the ( , ) modes.
