Using the Digital Zoom/Digital Tele-Converter

See Functions Available in Each Shooting Mode (p. 228).

You can combine digital zoom with optical zoom when shooting.

The available shooting characteristics and focal lengths (35mm film equivalent) are as follows:

	Selection	Focal Length	Shooting Characteristics
			Enables shooting at zoom factors of up to
	Standard	28 – 420 mm	15x with digital and optical zoom
	Standard	28 – 420 mm	combined. In movie mode, only the

	Off	28 – 105 mm	Enables shooting without digital zoom.

	1.6x	44.8 – 168 mm	Digital zoom is fixed at the selected zoom
	1.6x	44.8 – 168 mm	factor, and the focal length shifts to
			maximum telephoto. This enables a faster
			shutter speed and less chance of camera
	2.0x	56 – 210 mm	shake than a shot taken at the same angle
			of view with [Standard] or [Off].

zThe digital zoom cannot be used in or (Postcard), or

(Widescreen) modes.

z[1.6x] or [2.0x] cannot be set in mode.
