Using the Mode Dial (Creative Zone)

Mode Dial

You can freely select camera settings such as the shutter speed and aperture value to suit your shooting purposes.

After settings are made, shooting procedures are

z If the LCD monitor is on,

the shutter speed and aperture value appear automatically.

z The camera operates in the following ways according to the selected function:

Shutter Aperture Speed Value

the same as for the mode (p. 33).

See Functions Available in Each Shooting Mode (p. 159) at the end of this manual to find out which settings can be changed in which shooting modes.

How to Use the Mode Dial

1Check that the camera is in Shooting mode.

2Turn the shooting

mode dial and set the icon of the function you wish to use to .

PThe camera automatically sets the shutter speed and aperture value.

Tv The user selects a shutter speed using the or button.

Av The user selects an aperture value using the or button.

The user selects the setting (the shutter

Mspeed or the aperture value) using the SET button and select a shutter speed or an aperture value using the or button.

z When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the shutter speed and aperture value appear on the LCD monitor. The correct exposure has been set when they appear in white.

3Shoot the image.
