Checking

the Spark Plug

 

Cleansparkplugandresettheelectrodegapto 0.030"at leastoncea

 

season;replaceevery 100hoursof operation.

Cartridge

,,Cleanareaaroundthe sparkplugbase.Do notsandblastspark plug.Sparkplugshouldbecleanedbyscrapingorwire brushing andwashingwitha commercialsolvent.

,,Removeand inspectthe sparkplug.Checkgap to makesureit is setat .030".SeeFigure11.

,,Replacethe sparkplugif electrodesarepitted,burned,or the porcelainis cracked.

Servicing the Air Cleaner

lDocartridgenot.USepressurizedair or solventsto cleanthe air cleaner

Theair cleanerpreventsdamagingdirt, dust,etc.,fromenteringthe carburetorandbeingforcedintothe engineandis importantto engine lifeand performance.Theair cleanerconsistsof apleatedfilterand

apre-cleanerthatcan bewashedandreused.Neverrunthe engine withoutan aircleanercompletelyassembled.

Cleanorreplacetheair cleanerevery25hoursof operation.

1.Loosenscrewsthatholdthe airfiltercover.

2.Opencoverandremovecartridge.SeeFigure12.

3.Removepre-cleanerfromthecartridge.Discardoldcartridge.

4.Installnewcartridge.Installlip onpre-cleanerat the bottomof cartridgepleats.

5.Closethe coverandtightenscrews.

NOTE:If thefilter istorn or damagedin anyway,replaceit.

Check Engine Oil

1.Stopengineandwaitseveralminutesbeforecheckingoil level. Withengineon levelground,the oil mustbeto FULLmarkon dipstick.

2.Removeoil fill dipstickandwipecleanwithcloth.

3.Replaceandtightendipstick.Removeandcheckoil level. Level shouldbe at FULLmark.

4.Ifneeded,add oilslowly- recheck.Do notoverfill.

5.Wipe dipstickclean,replaceandtighten.Removeand checkoil level.Oillevelshouldbeat FULLlineondipstick.

Donot overfil.Overfillingwithoilmaycausethe engineto not start, or hardstarting.Ifover the FULLmarkon the dipstick,drainoilto reduceoil levelto FULLmarkondipstick.
