1. Removeoilfill dipstick.
2. Withthe chippershredderonlevelground,use a funnelto empty
entirecontentsofoil bottleprovidedintothe engine.
3. Replaceoilfill dipstickand tighten.
SubsequentUses
Onlyusehigh qualitydetergentoilrated withAPIservice classification
SF,SG,or SH.Selectthe oil'sSAE viscositygradeaccordingtothe
expectedoperatingtemperature.Followthechartbelow.

Althoughmulti-viscosityoils(5W30,10W30,etc.)improvestarting
incold weather,theywillresult in increasedoilconsumptionwhen
usedabove32°E Checkyourengineoillevel morefrequentlytoavoid
possibleenginedamagefromrunninglowon oil.
1. Checktheoil level makingcertainnotto rubthe dipstickalong the
insidewallsofthe oil fill tube.This wouldresult ina false dipstick
reading.Wipedipstickcleanwithcloth. Replaceandtighten
dipstick.Removeandcheckoil level.Refillto FULLmarkon
dipstick,ifnecessary.Capacityisapproximately28oz.Overfilling
willcausethe engineto smokeprofuselyandwill result inpoor
engineperformance.
2. Replaceoilfill dipstickand tighten.
l Useextremecare whenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableandthevaporsare explosive.Neverfuelmachineindoors
orwhile theengineis hot or running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
pipes,andothersourcesof ignition.
3. Keepoil levelat FULL.Runningtheenginewithtoo little oil can
resultinpermanentenginedamage.
Gasoline
1. Removefuelcapfrom thefueltank.
2. Makesurethe containerfromwhichyou will pourthe gasolineis
cleanandfreefrom rustor foreignparticles.Neveruse gasoline
thatmaybe stalefrom longperiodsof storagein itscontainer.
Gasolinethathasbeensitting for anyperiod longerthanfour
weeksshouldbeconsideredstale.
3. Fillfueltank withclean,fresh,unleadedregulargasolineonly. Do
notusegasolinecontainingMETHANOL.Replacefuelcap.
Alcoholblendedfuels(calledgasoholor usingethanolor methanol)
canattractmoisturewhichleads toseparationandformationofacids
duringstorage.Acidicgascan damagethefuel systemofanengine
whilein storage.
Toavoidengineproblems,thefuel systemshouldbeemptiedbefore
storagefor30 daysor longer.Drainthe gas tank,start the engine
andlet it rununtil thefuel linesand carburetorareempty.Use
freshfuelnext season.See STORAGEInstructionsforadditional
information.
Neveruseengineorcarburetorcleanerproductsinthe fueltank or
permanentdamagemayoccur.
NOTE:Checkthefuel levelperiodicallytoavoidrunningout ofgaso-
linewhileoperatingthechippershredder.Ifthe unit runsoutof gasas
itis chipping,it may be necessarytounclogthe dischargeareabefore
itcan be restarted.Referto SERVICEANDMAINTENANCEsection.

TO START ENGINE

1. Attachsparkplug wireand rubberbootto sparkplug.
2. Fill tankto no morethan 1/2 inchbelow bottomoffiller neck to
providespaceforfuel expansion.
3. Turnthefuel shut-offvalveto theONposition.
4. Movethe chokeleveronthe engineto CHOKEI'i,I position.(A
warmenginemaynot requirechoking.)SeeFigure 10.
5. MovethrottlecontroltoSTART/RUN(Rabbit),_ position.See
Figure10.
6. Standingbehindthe unit,graspstarterhandleand pull ropeout
untilyoufeel a drag.
