TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

PROBLEMCAUSE

Loss of power Cutting too much grass/too

fast.

Throttle in =CHOKE" position.

Build-up of grass, leaves and trash under mower.

Dirty air filter.

Low oil level/dirty oil.

Faulty spark plug.

CORRECTION

Set in "Higher

Cut" position/

Clean

underside

of mower

 

housing.

 

 

Clean/replace

air

filter.

Check

oil level/change oil.

Clean

and regap

or change

 

spark

plug.

 

 

Excessive vibration

Engine continues to run when

operator leaves seat with attachment

clutch engaged

Poor cut - uneven

Dirty fuel filter.

Stale or dirty fuel.

Water in fuel.

Spark plug wire loose.

Dirty engine air screen/fins.

Dirty/clogged muffler.

Loose or damaged wiring.

Carburetor out of adjustment.

Engine valves out of adjustment.

Worn, bent or loose blade.

Bent blade mandrel.

= Loose/damaged part(s).

Faulty operator-safety presence control system.

Worn, bent or loose blade.

Mower deck not level.

Buildup of grass, leaves, and trash under mower.

Bent blade mandrel.

Clogged mower deck vent from build-up of grass, leaves, and trash around mandrels.

Replace

fuel filter.

 

Drain

 

fuel tank

 

and

refill with

 

fresh

gasoline.

 

 

 

Drain

 

fuel tank and carbure-

 

tor, refill tank with fresh

 

gasoline

and replace fuel

 

filter.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Connect and tighten spark

 

plug

wire.

 

 

 

Clean

engine air screen/

 

fins.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Clean/replace

muffler.

Check

all wiring.

Contact

center/department.

Replace

Tighten

blade

bolt.

 

Replace

mandrel.

If not

corrected,

service

center/department.

Replace

blade.

Tighten

 

blade

bolt.

 

 

 

Level

mower

deck.

 

Clean underside of mower

 

housing.

 

 

 

°Replace blade mandrel.

Clean around mandrels to open vent holes.
