,_ WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shields when operating
tools. Failure to do so could result inobjects
being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible
serious injury.
LEVEL DRILLING
See Figure 11.
A convenient feature provided with your drill is a level.
it is recessed inthe motor housing on top of your drill.
Itcan be usedto keep drill bits level during drilling
operations.

When drilling hard smooth surfaces use a center punch
to markdesired hole location. This will prevent the drill
bitfrom slippingoff center as the hole is started. How-
ever, the low speed feature allows starting holes without
centerpunching if desired. To accomplishthis, simply
operateyour drill at a low speed untilthe hole is started.
The material to be drilledshould be secured in a vise or
withdamps to keep it from tuming as the drill bitrotates.
Holdtool firmly and place the bit at the pointto be drilled.
Depressthe switch trigger to start tool.
Move the drillbit intothe workpiece applying only
enough pressure to keep the bit cutting. Do notforce or
applyside pressure to elongateahole.
,_ WARNING: Be prepared for binding or bit
breakthrough. When these situations occur, drill
has a tendency to grab and kickopposite to the
directionof rotation and could cause loss of
controlwhen breaking through material. If not +
prepared, this loss ofcontrol can result in
possible serious injury.
When drilling metals, use a lightoil on the drill bit to
keep it from overheating. The oil will prolong the life of
the bitand increase the drilling action.
If the bit jams in workpiece or if the drillstalls, release
switchtrigger immediately. Remove the bitfrom the
workpiece and determine the reason for jamming.
