CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface.

CAUTION: Only a certified service technician should perform repairs on your computer. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell™ is not covered by your warranty.

CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer.

Removing the Center Control Cover

1.Follow the procedure in Before You Begin.

2.Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery).

3.Turn the computer top side up, and open the display as far as possible.

CAUTION: Be extremely careful when removing the center control cover. The cover is very fragile.

4.Pry out the center control cover with a plastic scribe starting from the back of the computer.

5.Ease the center control cover up.

Replacing the Center Control Cover

1.Align the tabs beneath the center control cover with the slots on the palm rest and snap the cover in place.

2.Replace the battery (see Replacing the Battery).
