Network functionality and Operation
The network functionality of the Denon Professional DN-C640 allows you to play back compatible audio files from a shared network resource or drive as well as provide you with a simple web-based user interface to control the DN-C640 over your network. The DN-C640 has following functions.
1.Playing audio files from the network drive
The DN-C640 can play the audio files stored in a shared folder on a network computer.
2.Uploading audio files
The DN-C640 can make a copy of a file or files, or the entire disc to the shared folder. See Utility menu – Page 27.
3.Web remote control
The DN-C640’s internal Web GUI allows any internet ready computer on the network to have full control of the DN-C640’s features. All features on the front panel and in the preset menu can be controlled by the unit’s web remote. Additionally, .m3u style playlists can be built, downloaded or uploaded to the device from the web remote. See Web remote – Page 30.
How to hook up the DN-C640 to your network
Connect the DN-C640 to the network using the Ethernet RJ-45 terminal (LAN) on the rear of the unit. You can connect the DN-C640 in any of the following ways:
•Through a corporate network
•Through a home network using a router or switch
•Directly to a computer using an Ethernet cross-over cable.
The DN-C640 supports the automatic acquisition of IP addresses from a DHCP server.
More often than not, you can connect your DN-C640 to a corporate network or home network in three easy steps:
1.Before connecting the DN-C640, set the preset setting of “IP Address“ to Auto (default).
It means that the DN-C640 will attempt to acquire the network settings from a DHCP server in the network.
2.Connect the DN-C640 to the network using the Ethernet RJ-45 terminal on the rear of the unit.
If you are not connected to a network, use a cross-over Ethernet cable to connect the unit directly to your computer.
3.Turn the unit on.
The DN-C640 automatically configures its network settings and communications with the network or computer without you having to do anything further.
NOTE :
•If you set the preset setting of “IP Address” to Auto, use utility menu to find the IP address of the DN-C640 that is assigned by a DHCP server automatically.
•If the DN-C640 can not find a DHCP server, when the DN-C640 is turned power on, it might take time to finish initializing.
•If you assign the network setting manually, at the first you should set the following preset setting of the DN-C640.
-IP address
-Subnet Mask
-Gateway
Set “DNS Server” setting if necessary.
NOTE
If you are not familiar with the network environment where you wish to connect your DN-C640, please contact your network or IT official or administrator.
