Selecting the title

Some DVDs are recorded with two or more titles. If a title menu is recorded on the disc, you can select the title you want.

To select a title:

1Press DVD TITLE during playback. The Title menu opens.

2Press , , , or to select the title you want, then press ENTER or PLAY. The selected title starts playing.

Note: Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to select a title. Depending on the DVD, a “title menu” may be called a “menu” or “title” in the instructions supplied with the disc.

Using the DVD menu

Some DVDs let you select the disc contents using the menu. When you play these DVDs, you can select the subtitle language, soundtrack language, and so on, using the DVD menu.

To use the DVD menu:

1Press DVD MENU during playback. The DVD menu opens.

2Press DVD MENU again to resume playback at the scene when you pressed DVD MENU.

3Press , , , or to select the title you want, then press ENTER. The menu continues to another screen. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to set additional items.

Using the Zoom feature

Your player lets you zoom in on the frame image. You can then make selections by switching the position of the frame.

To use the Zoom feature:

1Press ZOOM during playback. The center part of the image is magnified. Each time you press ZOOM, the magnification changes 1 = ×1.3, 2 = × 1.5) and 3 = × 2.0.

2Press , , , or to view a different part of the picture.

3 Press ZOOM repeatedly to return to a 1:1 view (Off).

Notes:

While in zoom mode, you can use Pause, Slow, or Search. Zoom may not work with some discs.

Setting the language

You can select the language of the menu, subtitle, and soundtrack if more than one language is recorded onto the disc.

To set the language:

1Press SETUP/TV MENU while in stop mode. The DVD menu opens.

Menu: English

Subtitle: English

Audio: English

2Press or to select the Language icon , then press or

or ENTER. The Language menu opens.

Using the DVD player

3Press or to select the desired option, then press or

ENTER.

4Press or to select the language you want, then press ENTER. Available options include:

English

French (Français).

Spanish (Español)

Other—Additional languages can be selected using the “Language code list” on page 31.

Off (Subtitle)—Turns subtitles off.

Original (Audio)—Subtitle will appear in the original language of the disc.

5Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.

Note: If the selected language is not recorded on the disc, the first priority language is selected.

Setting the aspect ratio

To set the aspect ratio:

1Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The DVD menu opens.

3Press or to highlight TV Screen, then press or ENTER.

4Press or to select the screen type you want, then press ENTER. Available options include:

4:3 Letterbox—When playing a wide-screen DVD, this option displays the wide picture with black bands at the top and bottom.

4:3 Panscan—Displays a wide picture on the whole screen, with left and right edges automatically cut off.

16:9 Wide—Displays wide-screen pictures full size.

5Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.

Note: It is not always possible for the DVD to display the picture in your preferred picture setting. For example, the disc may not offer “4:3 Panscan.” In this case the picture would display in the format available on the disc.
