To set the digital sound output:

1Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The DVD menu opens.

4Press or to select the setting you want, then press ENTER. Available options include:

Off—No sound output from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack.

PCM—Changes Dolby Digital to PCM output. Choose this option when your player is connected to a 2-channel digital stereo amplifier.

Bitstream—Disc audio bitstream data is output.

5Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.

Notes:

This feature works only during playback of Dolby-Digital recorded discs. Even if you select “Bitstream,” MPEG audio will be output in PCM format.

Setting parental controls

Some discs are specified “not suitable for children.” You can limit playback of these discs on your TV/DVD.

To set the password and parental control level:

1Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted. The DVD menu opens.

2Press or to select the Parental icon , then press or

or ENTER. The Parental Control menu opens.

3Press or to select the Parental, then press or ENTER. The Enter Password screen opens.

4Enter “0000” using the number buttons (0-9), this is the preset password, then press ENTER. The parental level list opens. If you enter a wrong number, press EXIT and try again.

5Press or to select the setting you want, then press ENTER. Available options include:

Level Off—No control.

Level 8—Virtually all DVDs can be played back.

Level 1—The most restrictive setting.

The limitation is more restrictive as the level number decreases.

6Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.

Notes:

The level of dynamic range reduction may differ, depending on the DVD. Depending on the disc, the unit may not be able to limit playback. Some discs may not be encoded with specific rating level information,

even though the disc jacket says “adult.” For those discs, the age restriction does not work.

After the rating is locked, the setting cannot be changed unless you enter the correct password.
