Determining the Effective Focal Length

The CCD sensor in this camera is an APS-C size, about 34% smaller than the area covered by a 35 mm film. This effectively increases the working focal length of the attached lens by 1.53x to produce the equivalent 35 mm focal length.

For example, if you use a 50 mm lens with this camera, the effective focal length would be 50 ⋅ 1.53 = 76.5 mm.

The focal length conversion table on the rear panel of the camera shows equivalent 35 mm focal lengths of the lenses attached to the camera.
