4.Read the passage and question thoroughly and write your answer on the lined paper provided with the unit.
5.Press A when you are finished.
If time has expired, the message “ESSAY TIME HAS EXPIRED” is displayed on the screen. You can finish this section or stop the practice test. Press the down arrow to highlight the item you want, then press ENTER.
6.Press ENTER to continue.
The Practice Test Section menu is displayed.
7.Continue taking the remaining sections of the test.

For instructions on how to score your essay, please refer to “How Are the Essays Scored?” in the Essay chapter of Cracking the New SAT - How to Crack the Writing Section.
You can only adjust the score of your essay in the SAT Score Report screen. Please see “SAT Score Report” in “Reading SAT Test Reports” on page 36 for more information. Your default score is 6.
