Exif: A digital camera image fi le format that stores information on the time of recording, resolu- tion, camera orientation, and the type of device used to record the image. The data recorded also include the thumbnails displayed in the viewer during multi-frame playback.

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group): A compressed fi le format for color images. The higher the compression rate, the greater the loss of information and the more noticeable the drop in quality when the picture is displayed.

Multi-picture format: An image fi le format approved by the Camera and Imaging Products Associa- tion (CIPA) that allows multiple images to be stored in a single file. Multi-picture files have the extension “*.MPO”.

Parallax: Changes in the apparent position and orientation of a subject when viewed from differ- ent angles.

Slide show: A series of images (slides) displayed one after the other, sometimes with transition effects between slides.
